Isaac, who was old and blind, asked his older son Esau to hunt some wild game and prepare him tasty food so that he could give him his blessing before he died. Rebekah overheard this and instructed her son Jacob to bring her two young goats to prepare the food instead. Jacob was hesitant, but Rebekah convinced him to do it. She prepared the food and Jacob took it to his father, pretending to be Esau. Isaac blessed Jacob, thinking he was Esau, and when Esau found out, he was furious.
